well fuck, it seems that the forum keeps on dying everytime i post. As if my mere presence is like releasing anthrax into a water supply. Killing everything in it's wake. Nah, just kidding. But c'mon guys be proactive. and since the entertainment subforum is a barren wasteland i decided to do something about it.

Either way, I just got done watching Jurassic Park World. Directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and obnoxious fucking kids. Oh and one guy who i recognise from the web series GAYLE.

The movie rides on the coattails of the original Jurassic Park franchise. Probably brought back to life in the wake of all the reboot and nostalgia jerkers from the last couple of years. But, next to having some elements in place from the original, including similar plot developement, this movie stands alone in the franchise. It doesn't feel like it has any connection to the original trilogy. but then again i felt as if The Lost World and the godawful third one didn't deserve to be either.

It's been 20 years since the original jurassic park incident. A new corporation, The Masrani global corporation, have taken over the concept from father christmas A.K.A. John Hammond. And have created the very lucrative Jurassic World theme park somewhere on an island around costa rica, Titled Isla Nubla. In this film, we follow 2 brothers, Zach and Gray, Who go to the island on a vacation trip to visit their Aunt, Claire (Dallas Howard), while their parents are getting divorced. At the same time, We get introduced to the main villain of this film. A big non-existent dinosaur called the Indominus Rex. We also get introduced to owen (Pratt) an Ex navy seal who trains velociraptors. I'm not going into full detail but shit goes south when the indominus rex breaks free from it's confinement, causing mayhem and destruction porn all over the island.

Sufficed to say i like this movie. It was a fun ride all the way through. Not specifically for nostalgia sake(although, to be fair, it did garner a lot of attention for nostalgia freaks) but for the fact that it was so extremely cheesy and campy. The acting was good, but forreal fuck kid actors they are the worst. Especially jaded teens, the worst kind. But Chris Pratt was a likeable character. There is character developement and arcs regarding the relationships between the characters. And like i said earlier, quite some callbacks to the original series ranging from the intervention of InGen, the heartless corporation of the first one, the designs of the dinosaurs, and just generally what you'd expect from a film from this IP. Brutal dinosaur carnage, shit breaking, explosions. Unfortunately, if you are a fan of excess gore, you're not going to get much out of this next to some obscured shots of people being devoured, and close ups of blood splatters. Even The Lost World still showed a dude getting ripped in half by 2 T-rexes. But i understand since this was a PG film. You can't just have brutal human death. Even though some of it is heavily implied. And it's still great. Here are the 2 cons that bothered me the most; a lack of scene in the wild and no Jeff Goldblum.

Overall. I can understand why this movie was a success. But it's fair to say at the same time i felt it definitely wasn't all too necesarry to make it. Albeit raking in over a billion clams internationally. And also for the majority, critic approved, it still didn't have too much connection to either the other films or even the novel (written by Michael Crichton) next to the iconic theme, name drops and familiar logos, and only one reoccuring character (counting out the dinosaurs of course). But it didn't prevent it from being a fun and exciting film to watch in my opinion. It's a good popcorn sci fi creature feature action film. And even though the movie clocks in just over 2 hours. The pace never really gets sluggish and shit just keeps going. making it a great time killer. i would say go in with an empty mind, crack a beer, spark a blunt, get some popcorn and, if you can, invite some friends over and just have a good time.

so, what did you think of jurassic world? leave a response or vote in the poll.

I've seen it and I loved the chaos.

Me and a buddy of mine went to go see it one morning and once the final showdown happened both of our jaws were open. It was some good edge of your seat action if you're into that kind of thing. The story was alright, same as it ever was. The animal interactions were pretty neat and the heightened intelligence of the Raptors was a nice touch.
